GOOGLE is all set to launch a new ChatGPT rival, says CEO Sundar Pichai

When it comes to disruption use data, not dogma. The war on Artificial Intelligence has begun. It was unpredictable that 2023 would be the year that Google Search will fight to keep its crown against Bing, but that’s exactly what could play out in the next few months.

Microsoft has announced that Bing could be powered with ChatGPT which was planning an official showcase on 7th February, 20023. In a quick response to this, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai broke the news about ‘Bard’- which is their very own conversational AI powered by LaMDA. Google will also host an event on 8th February to delve more into this. This shows that the race for Artificial Intelligence is at its peak.

In January 2023, Microsoft announced to make a multi-billion investment of around $10 billion in Open AI over years. Microsoft will be providing cloud-computing power to the research lab in its software and across its products including Bing.

If we discuss Google’s announcement in some more depth, it said it will be rolling out new generative AI features to counter the mammoth success of Open AI’s ChatGPT. The company announced its very own chatbot called ‘Bard’ to compete with ChatGPT.

It is because ChatGPT boasts over 100 million users since its launch making it one of the fastest-growing services. And Microsoft has recently invested over 10 billion into OpenAI which has the aim of integrating LLMs into its services.

In any case, the competition is a positive thing because Google search has finally met an adversary that would result in technological improvement across the industry.

Bard can combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of large language models. The CEO tweeted that Bard draws on information from the web to provide fresh and high-quality responses. 

Bard is the new name in Google’s answer to the skyrocketing interest in AI chatbots. The release of ChatGPT has captured the imagination of millions of people due to its easy interface and exact human-like responses. All these AI chatbots developed by China’s Baidu represent how we interact with AI and technology.

Google talked about the power behind Bard which is Google’s Language Model for Dialogue applications, i.e., LaMDA. The company said its new AI will information on the web to craft and serve novel responses, both detailed and creative.

Bard is a lightweight version of LaMDA that uses less computing power, allowing it to scale to more people and provide additional feedback which will be critical to meet high bar quality, safety, and groundedness of Google in real-world information.

The goal is not to monetize Bard right at this moment. No details of Bard were shared on Ads. The company wants a healthy online ecosystem and as it develops new AI tools sending search traffic to creators and news publishers will be a priority.

Well, the other side was not even standing still. Microsoft CEO has announced working on some new exciting projects at a press event. Microsoft will emerge ChatGPT with Bing in the coming days. It will be based on ChatGPT- 4 a new language model. ChatGPT uses AI technology named a large language model, which is trained on vast courses of data on the internet. From writing software and passing exams to offering advice, ChatGPT has it all.

Google is desperate to tout its deep AI expertise. ChatGPT has triggered a code red situation for Google, according to The New York Times.  

Google's new AI Bard is now accessible to all, followed by the launch on February 6, 2023. On the contrary, Microsoft has brought in a new improved AI named Bing, powered by a cutting edge Open-AI big language model specially made for search.
